equipping people for life

Equipping U is designed to provide a small group experience for adults so we may dig deeper into a specific area of our faith life.

These areas are related to the spiritual disciplines of Abiding in Christ, Living By God’s Word, Praying in Faith, Building Godly Relationships, Witnessing to the World, and Ministering to Others.

As such, we offer classes each Fall/Winter and Spring semesters designed for women, men, and married adults to learn more together.

“practice these things; be committed to them, so that your progress may be evident to all”.

1 Timothy 4:15

Jesus Continued by J.D. Greear

Teacher: Pastor Doug Echols
Type: Co-Ed
Room: Fellowship Hall
Book Cost: TBD
Description:
Why do so many of us think of Christianity as a lifestyle to which we conform, rather than a God with whom we commune? Jesus gave His disciples the audacious promise that it was to their advantage that He go back to heaven because the Holy Spirit could then come to live inside of them. Over the course of this study, you’ll see how you can have a satisfying, powerful relationship with God through the Holy Spirit.

Purpose Driven Life by Rick Warren

Room: R-13
Book Cost: $11.00
Description:
In The Purpose Driven Life you’ll find the answers to three of life’s most important questions: The Question of Existence: Why am I alive? The Question of Significance: Does my life matter? The Question of Purpose: What on earth am I here for? Living out the purpose you were created for moves you beyond survival or success to a life of significance – the life you were meant to live.

A Woman's Heart: God's Dwelling Place by Beth Moore

Teacher: Shirley Lawing & Rhonda Robinson
Type: Women’s
Room: S-14
Book Cost: $16.00
Description:
Explore the fascinating account of the building of the Old Testament tabernacle, the significance of its intricate design, its pivotal role in God’s eternal plan, the grand fulfillment of its purpose by Jesus Christ, and its variety of meanings for your walk with God today. Through the tabernacle God initiated a deeper relationship with His Chosen People by bringing reconciliation and revealing His glory. And certainly, no Old Testament event so richly prefigures the coming of the true Tabernacle, Jesus Christ. You will be challenged to prepare your heart, like the holy of holies, to become a home for His love and glory — a dwelling place for the Most High God.

Classes Take Place Tuesday Mornings at 9:30am and Wednesday Evenings during the regular Equipping U hours.

Parenting by Paul Tripp

Teacher: Emerson Byrd
Type: Co-Ed
Room: R-12
Book Cost: $18.00
Description:
In Parenting, author Paul David Tripp unfolds a more biblical perspective on parenting than merely adhering to a list of rules. He lays out fourteen gospel-centered principles that will radically change the way parents think about what it means to raise up a child, informing everything they do as a parent. Principles include grace, identity, lies, authority, foolishness, and character.

Forgotten God by Francis Chan

Teacher: Phred Paul
Type: Men’s
Room: S-13
Book Cost: $13.00
Description:
In the name of the Father, the Son, and … the Holy Spirit. We pray in the name of all three, but how often do we live with an awareness of only the first two? As Jesus ascended into heaven, He promised to send the Holy Spirit–the Helper–so that we could be true and living witnesses for Christ. Unfortunately, today’s church has admired the gift but neglected to open it. Breakthrough author Francis Chan rips away paper and bows to get at the true source of the church’s power–the Holy Spirit. Chan contends that we’ve ignored the Spirit for far too long, and we are reaping the disastrous results. Thorough scriptural support and compelling narrative form Chan’s invitation to stop and remember the One we’ve forgotten, the Spirit of the living God.
