equipping people for life

Equipping U is designed to provide a small group experience for adults so we may dig deeper into a specific area of our faith life.

These areas are related to the spiritual disciplines of Abiding in Christ, Living By God’s Word, Praying in Faith, Building Godly Relationships, Witnessing to the World, and Ministering to Others.

As such, we offer classes each Fall/Winter and Spring semesters designed for women, men, and married adults to learn more together.

“practice these things; be committed to them, so that your progress may be evident to all”.

1 Timothy 4:15

Life on Mission by Dustin Willis & Aaron Coe

Teacher: Pastor Doug Echols
Type: Co-Ed
Room: Fellowship Hall
Book Cost: $10.00
Life on Mission is a North American Mission Board initiative that equips believers to live a missional lifestyle. Based on the authors’ experiences as church planters, this five-session Bible study is equal parts purpose and practice. It’s one thing to examine the heart of a mission-minded follower. It’s another to adopt the strategy and actually become a mission-minded follower. This small group resource provides an opportunity for both.

Onward by Russell Moore

Teacher: Dawson Bailey
Type: Co-Ed
Room: R-13
Book Cost: $15.00
As the culture changes all around us, it is no longer possible for Christians to pretend that we are a moral majority. That may be bad news for America, but it can be good news for the church. As Christianity seems increasingly strange—and even subversive—to our culture, we have the opportunity to embrace the distinctiveness of the Christian faith and to be marginalized for the sake of the gospel.

Jonah by Priscilla Shirer

Teacher: Shirley Lawing
Type: Women’s
Room: S-15
Book Cost: $15.00
What do we do when God interrupts our lives? Many times, like Jonah, we run! In this 7-session Bible study, Priscilla redefines interruption and shows that interruption is actually God’s invitation to do something beyond our wildest dreams. When Jonah was willing to allow God to interrupt his life, the result was revival in an entire city.

Parenting From The Tree Of Life

Teacher: Emerson & Dorcas Byrd
Type: Co-Ed
Room: R-12
Book Cost: $15.00
In the beginning, God created the universe and declared it to be good. He created man in His own imagine, male and female, and placed them in a garden, where He also placed two fruit bearing trees. The Tree of Life and the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. The fruit of the first tree brings life, the fruit of the second leads unto death. This is where the human story begins—this is where our story begins—with a choice between life and death. But not just life or death, but rather a choice between a way of life and a way of death. Two trees with two different outcomes. From which tree will your parenting be guided?
